There seems to be a problem with the positioning of the VA navigation bar in VS2019.
When switching tabs, the navigation bar often jumps to the top of the VS window, while still displaying a stale, unclickable instance in its desired location. This happens very frequently, like every 5 minutes or so. Not all tabs are affected when this happens, other tabs still show the navigation bar in its desired location. The only solution is to close the tab with the VA navigation bar on top. Very annoying, as the VS menu bar is totally covered with it.

Just updated to VS 2019 version 16.4.2 and VA version 10.9.2358, this is when the issue started.
Before I was using VS 2019 version 16.3.8 and VA version 10.9.2353 and never encountered this issue.

How easily / reliably can you reproduce this problem? I am wondering how easily I could test your settings here, to see if I can reproduce this problem, so we can study it.

If you have a sense of a pattern as to how to trigger this, could you please export your VA and IDE settings and send them to me:

VA Options -> Performance -> Export Settings
IDE tools menu -> Import and Export Settings -> Export selected environment settings

I can then import them here and see if I can reproduce the problem. Please send me the files via email:

[email protected]

including this thread ID or URL in the description, so we can match it up.

All tool windows were on the same monitor (primary).
IDE was only displayed on that same monitor.
No additional monitor management utilities are installed.
Switching tabs by clicking. Once I also noticed this behaviour when opening a tab by clicking on an item in the search results window (via find in files).

I have the impression that this behaviour can be circumvented by closing the txt files. This is an acceptable workaround for me at the moment.

Are all of the tool windows for the IDE on the same monitor?
Is the IDE spread across more than one monitor?
Are you using any software to help you manage multiple monitors? Personally I use Display Fusion to help me work with multiple monitors.
When changing tabs between the txt file and the code file, how are you doing so?
Ctrl-Tab? Mouse click on a tab? Using the Window menu? Something else?

It would make some sense if multiple monitors were somehow a factor, but multiple monitors on their own should not be triggering this problem.

I am working with 3 monitors. In this case the instance of VS was displayed on the primary monitor.
The only other extension I am using is CodeMaid.
Code files are all saved to local disk.
I have the impression that it has to do with the display of the .txt files, which don't show the VA navigation bar. Then when navigating back to a tab that contains a .cpp file, the navigation bar sometimes jumps to the top of the screen.

This is very strange, and I don't think I have ever seen this happen before.

Are you working on a single monitor, or on a multiple monitor system?
Do you have any other IDE extensions installed?
Does this only happen to files with a certain extension? Your picture shows it happening in a .cpp file, so I am wondering if somehow this is programming language dependent?
The code files this happens to, are they saved locally? On a network drive? I am just wondering if there is anything "odd" or "different" about the files this happens with, to see if this gives us a clue.
