I rely on visual studio move line up and down.
Every time I update Visual Assist, it overrides them with VAssistX.ScopePrevious and VAssistX.ScopeNext
This is the shortcut shift+up-key and shift+down-key

Is there a way to stop letting Visual Assist override these shortcuts?

I was able to find and install the extensions:

Qt Visual Studio Tools
Google Text Adapter
VSColorOutput

via the VS2019 Manage Extensions dialog, but no sign of "Test Adapter for Google Test Smart Command Line Arguments". With the three extensions I was able to find and install, still no sign of the problem. So this doesn't seem to be the trigger for the problem.

Maybe its worth saving out your IDE and VA settings before installing the next build of VA, and then exporting them again after installing the next build, when the problem is likely to appear again, so I can compare the settings. I am not sure it will tell us anything useful, but it might.

I just get a new .exe whenever I need to update. Update notifications lead me back to the website.

I have QT Extension, Google Test Adapter, Test Adapter for Google Test Smart Command Line Arguments, and VS Color Output.

I have the settings files, thank you for these.

Unfortunately still no sign of the problem, even after importing both your VA and IDE settings.

I started by installing VA 2403 on a clean, never seen VA before, system, and then importing both sets of settings. After importing all of the settings Alt-Up and Alt-Down arrow moved the current line.

I then used the exe installer to upgrade VA to build 2406, no change in the keyboard settings. I even rebooted, just in case it somehow mattered.

I then upgraded once more to VA 2420, and again no change to the keyboard settings.

I really expected the settings to be enough to reproduce this problem here.

When you install a new version of VA, how do you do so? Do you just download and run the exe installer normally? Upgrade from the online extension store? Something else?

Do you have any other extensions installed? There were no obvious signs or hints of this when I imported your IDE settings, but since you keep on getting this problem, and it doesn't seem to be a settings problem, something related to another extension is my next best guess.

VA should not reassign keyboard shortcuts that have already been set in your IDE options. To try and reproduce this, I have started with a clean Windows 10 system, VA has never been installed. Before installing VA, Alt-Up Arrow and Alt-Down Arrow move the current line up and down the file.

Installing VA 2382 makes no difference, the keyboard shortcuts still move the current line.
Now upgrade VA by installing VA 2387, no difference, the keyboard shortcuts still move the current line.
Now upgrade VA by installing VA 2389, no difference, the keyboard shortcuts still move the current line.
Now upgrade VA by installing VA 2403, no difference, the keyboard shortcuts still move the current line.
Now upgrade VA by installing VA 2420, no difference, the keyboard shortcuts still move the current line.

So there is some key difference between your system and my system, but I need to find out what that difference is.

Can you please export your VA and IDE settings and send them to me:

VA Options -> Performance -> Export Settings
IDE tools menu -> Import and Export Settings -> Export selected environment settings

I can then import them here and see if I can reproduce the problem. Please send me the files via email:

I am deeply disturbed and concernd that visual assist continues to override the move line up an down on ever patch install.

I don't understand the question.

This issue came back and it's really painful.

Easy mistake to make, I just needed to check that I was looking at the correct keyboard shortcut.

Which keyboard mapping scheme do you have the IDE set to use?
tiancovici Posted - Nov 24 2020 : 2:04:22 PM
Sorry, made mistake.

I meant alt+up, and alt+down is what i use to shift line up and down.

VA overrides them with scope jumping

So far I cannot reproduce. I started testing on a clean machine, where VA has never been installed before.

Then I install VA 2380

In C++ code, once VA parsing has finished, move the current line up and down works as normal. This is "Alt + Up Arrow" and "Alt + Down Arrow", not shift, as you mentioned.

Checking the IDE options dialog, no keyboard shortcuts are listed as being assigned to VAs next and previous scope commands.

upgrade to VA 2382, no change
upgrade to VA 2387, no change
upgrade to VA 2393, no change

this is what I expected, since when you install VA, VA should not replace any existing keyboard shortcuts, at least not without prompting you first about this.

Do you really mean Shift and not Alt as the modifier key here?

In the IDE Options dialog -> Keyboard settings, which keyboard mapping scheme are you using? I am working with "Visual C++ 6". It is possible this could be a factor somehow.

That's not supposed to happen.

Which IDE are you using, and which version of Visual Assist are you currently using?

Do you know if you update to each version as it is released, or occasionally update, skipping several builds in one go?
