If I have a chained function, and go to a new line and type the dot or pointer dereference operator, it will remove all the tabs (formatting) and start from the left. This is undesirable. Although it can be fixed easily with Visual studio's auto-formatting, it is an extra step.

I am seeing the same effect here. Thank you for the clear description:

case=57139

For now, you can turn off

VA Options -> Advanced -> Correction -> Convert dot to -> (only in C/C++ files)

as a workaround.
