Hi guys,

I've just bought VA X version and it crashes VS with my project.
VS starts normally, VA launches & shows its help tips screen. But when I open my C++ project it crashes. After some time spent clicking I found that if I set "Quick Config -> Display" settings to "Min" it starts working.

Here is info from VA screen:
----------------------------
VA_X.dll file version 10.6.1845.0 built 2011.03.13

I've send info with standard Windows error reporting service, hope you are able to get it.
I also have crash dump, but don't see where to attach it. Forum form accepts only images.
Feel free to ask any additional information.

Best regards,
Alex Kon

Thank you for the update, it is good to know that VA does not seem to be the cause of the crashes. I do hope that you are able to find a solution to the second problem soon.

Hi guys!

I want to say sorry - it seems that both problems are on VS side.

First one, as Mark suggested in his email answer, is caused by dejavu font, it is known bug in VS (http://forums.silverlight.net/forums/p/176008/403082.aspx). It seems that VA just triggers it somehow on my machine.

Second one can be reproduced from time to time with VA turned off. It was just accident that turning off VA fixed it first time. I've send dumps to MS, hope they will fix it.

Thank you very much for quick and professional support. Now I love your awesome product even more %)

Best regards,
Alex

I wasn't able to reproduce the problem using your steps and VA 1848 and VS 2010 SP1, however I may be doing something differently, here are my exact steps:

1. Create a C++/CLI Windows Forms app.
2. Add a new class using Project -> Add class... -> C++ Class
3. Press Add
4. I just used a class name and didn't change anything else, e.g. only "Managed" is checked and there is no base class used
5. Press Finish
6. Save the files
7. Close the files
8. In solution explorer I turn on "Show all files" via the second icon on the top to be able to move the files to an another folder
9. Drag the files to an other folder
10. Open the files via double click in the solution explorer
11. No crash

I've tried some slightly modified combinations but still no luck.
Can you please try if it happens with the latest build? (1848)

Hello,

No, no remote desktop. All just on my workstation.
Also I've found another bug. I have C++/CLI project. Here is actions sequence to reproduce the issue:
1) Add new class via Add->Class Wizard.
2) Move newly added files to another folder in Solution Explorer.
3) Try to open one of the just moved files.

For me its always results in VS crash. If I disable VA before 3rd action - all works OK.

I've posted dump, hope it will be helpful.

Are you using remote desktop, or anything similar here?

The dump file sounds like a good place to start, can you please submit it via the form:

including this thread ID or URL in the description, so we can match it up.
