Posted - Mar 28 2012 : 11:09:59 AM I am glad I was able to help Like many tools, VA has a lot of features and commands, and it is easy to overlook one if you don't use the tool all of the time. |

Posted - Mar 28 2012 : 07:21:10 AM Good point, Feline! As I haven't used VA for a long time (I've been on another platform), I completely forgot about such obvious things... |

Posted - Mar 27 2012 : 1:54:01 PM Are you aware of the Hovering Class Browser, in the bottom half of VA View? This is designed to show you the class members of a given class in alphabetical order:

You can show the current class, or some other class that you are working with, and are interested in. You can press the pin button to stop the Hovering Class Browser from changing the class as you move the caret, or edit, to keep the class you are interested in visible. |

Posted - Mar 27 2012 : 11:06:58 AM I understand, this is by design, but it's really insufficient. What I would like to see here is the possibility to sort Outline View either by occurrence in file or alphabetically. Programmer often wants to see the class to visually find the function name or just to have overview of the class and its functions sorted alphabetically without need to hit any key combination like ALT+M, especially if he/she is not the author of that class.
I think this would be easily implemented in the way, that if the list is sorted alphabetically, some features like reordering, grouping by pragma region will be simply disabled.
What do you think? |

Posted - Jan 03 2012 : 2:01:44 PM This is by design. VA Outline is designed to give you an outline / overview of the current file. VA Outline is also designed to help you reorder items in the current file, perhaps by drag and drop. To do this reliably we need to actually show you the items in the same order as they are in the current file.
If you want to see the functions in the file in alphabetical order, in order to jump to a specific function, you can use the List Methods in File, Alt-M list, which can be set to show the methods in alphabetical order:
