Posted - May 18 2022 : 7:43:07 PM Today, I installed the latest version of Visual Studio 2022 for the first time on a Windows 10 system. The install went fine and I was able to launch VS afterwards without any issues.
I then closed VS 2022 and installed VA 2022.2 for this version of VS. The VA install appeared to go fine. However when I then launched Visual Studio, I received numerous 'package did not load correctly' alerts. Specifically, warnings were issued for: 'MEF Service Broker Package'; 'Background long idle package'; 'Whats New Package'; and 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.Editor.implementation.EditorPackage'.
Restarting my PC didn't help. Repairing VS and reinstalling VA didn't help. Uninstalling VS, reinstalling VS, reinstalling VA didn't help. At this point, I'm not quite sure what to do. Any advice would be welcome.
Addendum: I do have VS 2019 installed and updating my VA version on that application to the 2022.2 plugin posed no problems. |

Posted - May 20 2022 : 09:43:56 AM Anyone experiencing this, please open Visual Studio and click the Send Feedback button in the top right to report the problem to Microsoft. This will allow them to assist us with diagnosing these package failures. Once you create the feedback ticket, send the link to [email protected] or post it here. Posted - May 19 2022 : 12:15:53 PM NachoAb, which version of Windows are you using?
Was this your first install of Visual Assist into Visual Studio, or did you have an earlier version of Visual Assist already installed? I am looking for common elements, any form of clue really.
Can you please go into the IDE help about dialog and copy your IDE information:
IDE Help menu -> About Microsoft Visual Studio -> Copy Info
and past it here?
This will also tell me which major components of Visual Studio you have installed. I can then try setting up an install with the same components, in case this is a factor.
Do you have any other versions of Visual Studio installed on your system, or just VS2022? |

Posted - May 19 2022 : 11:10:18 AM ChrisG... according to the VS Installer, I was running 17.2.1. I just downloaded it Tuesday morning from MSFT, so I'd be surprised if it was already out-of-date. However as soon as I'm back to that computer, I'll do a full uninstall and get latest VS download then try the VA install again. |

Posted - May 19 2022 : 09:21:16 AM No solution yet. Whole Tomato Support gave me some steps to run, which I did, but the problem persisted. I just emailed them the results of these test steps plus the latest VS logs. |

Posted - May 19 2022 : 09:19:27 AM Please try running devenv.exe /setup on your VS 2022 install. It should reset your cache, which may help things load in properly. Admin privileges are required.
Does resetting your cache help? |
