Posted - Jul 24 2024 : 8:09:38 PM While I'm typing or scrolling around, Visual Studio will lock up for a few minutes then restart itself with no error message. This has occurred 5 times in the last hour. Disabling VAX fixes the issue.
I use VAX with C++ code on 2022 17.8.12. We use the "LTSC" version of VS 2022 and stay on 17.8.x for that reason. |

Posted - Jul 26 2024 : 12:28:26 AM This happened to me a few times too. Was using Visual Assist 2024.5 and VS2022 17.10.4
At first I tried rolling back my VS2022 installation to 17.10.3 but the crashes still happened. One of these even crashed my entire PC (bluescreen of death), and when I restarted the PC, my Visual Studio had been completely reset: preferences, account login, and my only extension (Visual Assist) were wiped clean.
When reinstalling Visual Assist, I took the chance to rollback to 2024.4 and the crashes stopped.
If they do fix this crashing bug, I hope they release the bugfix patch as 2024.5.1 or something and still allow users whose license expired between the release of 2024.5 and this bugfix (such as myself) to still get build 2024.5 without needing to buy another year's license.
edit: To add more info, my current stable combination is VS2022 17.10.3 + VA 2024.4. Also, I am working solely on Unreal Engine 5 C++ projects. |
