When using VS find (ctrl-F) while VAX is enabled the cursor will randomly jump out of the find window into the source code while entering the search term.
As you might be imagining that is highly irritating and also causes unintentional code changes which at least in one case has causes hours of unnecessary debugging...
This effect does not occur if VAX is disabled or uninstalled.

Posted - Oct 23 2024 : 07:30:19 AM Many apologies for this problem. Unfortunately this is a bug in our latest version. I have put in an urgent bug report for this, since this really is getting in the way:
case=165029
For now, if you use Ctrl-Shift-F for the full Find dialog, rather than Ctrl-F for the Quick Find dialog, this avoids the problem. You do then need to change the find scope to the current document to get the same result, but it is a work around for now. Alternatively if you turn Off showing the VA navigation bar, via:
VA Options -> Display -> Display VA Navigation Bar:
this will stop the Quick Find dialog loosing focus.
Another approach is to go back to the previous version of VA. To do this you can uninstallVisual Assist from the page:
IDE Extensions menu -> Manage Extensions
which requires an IDE restart. Having done the restart you can download and install VA 2530, our previous release, from this page:
https://www.wholetomato.com/features/whats-new
which thankfully doesn't cause any problems with the CTRL-F dialog. |
