Posted - Apr 18 2026 : 09:18:57 AM VAX has one single, overarching goal: to make a developer's life easier. An enormous amount of excellent thinking and subtle optimization has gone into this product over the years, making it an indispensable tool. That is precisely what sets it apart. VAX shortcuts are all about speed and comfort - having all frequently used commands readily accessible at your fingertips.
This worked perfectly until build 2568.
Starting with that build, the following issue appeared: the Find Symbol Dialog and the Open File Dialog suddenly hide their checkbox options behind a button. While this change may have been made with a cleaner UI in mind, it has serious consequences for daily use.
The settings are no longer visible at a glance, which causes confusion. To reveal and change them, a mouse click on a small gear icon is now required - an unnecessary extra step that interrupts workflow.
What I do constantly is switch between "All Symbols" and "Classes Only", as well as toggle "Only Files in This Solution" on and off. Having these options hidden makes this significantly more cumbersome.
With this change, VAX has stepped off its own path. I would therefore strongly urge you to revert this to the previous behavior. This is, without doubt, a UX regression. The added click may seem minor in isolation, but it directly undermines the speed and efficiency that VAX is built around.
This concern has also been raised in the forum previously, and moderator "feline" acknowledged it as a regression at that time. Unfortunatly ist has not been adressed in the most recent build.
