Posted - Apr 11 2006 : 11:55:03 PM Hello, Here is a weird Visual Assist X bug I have just noticed. To recreate the bug do the following: 1) Start/Use a MFC project with C++ in Visual Studio 2005 2) Go to any header/source file in the project, and create a new line somewhere. 3) type // to indicate you wish to make a new line, notice the current line will be highlighted green, as it should. 4) Now enter a comment inside the line followed by a \\\\ and see what happens to the other lines, if you keep the line with a \\\ and what a second or so, all other lines turn green. Now type something after that, you should now notice everything goes back to normal.
Is anyone else noticing the bug?
Sincerely,
James Simpson Straightway Technologies Inc.

Posted - Apr 12 2006 : 5:29:04 PM beef is correct. To be more precise, the Standard specifies that in phase 2 of translation, all sequences of a new line character and an immediately preceding backslash character are removed, splicing physical lines. Comment processing happens in translation phase 3. |

Posted - Apr 12 2006 : 04:43:59 AM I see the same thing, but i think, it is not a bug. A '\\' character at the end of the line means, that the continuation of the sorce line goes in the next line. This is the c/c++ standard behaviour. I use it sometimes, especially with very long string literals. Here, '\\' means: the (logical) line with a comment is continuated in the next (physical) line. Notice, that disabling VA do not change this, it's ok. |
