Posted - Apr 18 2006 : 4:10:06 PM I just updated with the latest and it still takes out my key mappings and settings despite the plea to the installer clicking NO on all three "blow away your precious settings and ruin your setup with our defaults" prompts. (actually I learned to save my settings in the past)
A good indication that is you disable the navigator bar the comes with visual studio because you certainly dont need two of them with VAX installed and save your settings into a personal file. Then install the VAX upgrade and you get the obligatory three prompts asking you if you want to shoot your settings in the head, you answer no to all of them and then you it finishes. Open VS 2005 and lo and behold the VS navigator bar is back.

Posted - Jul 06 2006 : 7:43:09 PM We apologize for the hassle. You missed our note in the introduction to refactoring builds.

We'll point news users to the introduction when we announce future builds. |

Posted - Jul 04 2006 : 6:40:51 PM apologies for this. you make a sensible point. i spend so much time bouncing between versions of VA i get used to certain new builds doing an automatic reset. |

Posted - Jul 03 2006 : 06:04:42 AM After installing 1526, I never even got the question, while I got that in all previous versions I installed. Now all my keybindings and custom toolbars are gone :/.
If I knew this I would've backed them up, but as I was suspecting the messagebox asking whether or not to reset I didn't. This sucks.
.edit: right, I just read http://forum.wholetomato.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4732 It would be great if you said something about that in the history list or display a dialog before installing VA, instead of a beta release note from ages ago :( |

* do you know the version you were using before this upgrade? * which version have you just updated to? i am guessing 1445 * which version of VS2005 are you using? * which OS are you running? * do you have any other plugin's installed?
i will try to reproduce this here. i have often updated to the newest version of VA and never had a problem. occasionally VA will force a reset of the IDE, but this is rare and you are normally warned of this when support post the link to the new version.
It has always been a issue of any old version any combination, any new version any visual Studio 2005 from the first beta to the latest release. It has never failed to fail. I even sent you my VS2005 profiles. My OS is WinXP SP2. |
