When using the refactor->rename tool in VS2005, VX/VS2005 tries to check out files. The problem: Firstly, the dialog that prompts for the checkout is hidden behind the main window. Secondly, and that's the real problem, even after bringing this dialog to the front, it doesn't get the focus, i.e., you cannot accept the checkout. Thus, the whole thing hangs forever and all you can do is kill the process...

we are currently looking into this. for now the work around is to turn On the option:
IDE tools menu -> Options -> Environment -> Documents -> Allow editing of read-only files; warn when attempt to save
this avoids the hang.
