Frequent corrupt database

danpetitt	Posted - Oct 17 2006 : 11:53:00 AM I recently took the plunge for the new version having been very happy with my old copy for ages (I tried a newer version before with no success) ... but now I am getting missing intellisense and information a lot of time which gets progressively worse the longer my project is open. I am only opening one IDE at a time, but sometimes open others and close them down. To sort the problem I have to frequently clear the history/cache and rebuild. After reading some posts, I saw there were some error logs. Here they are after clearing all my caches and all devstudios then relaunching the one IDE and one project. Straight away i get it creating a corrupt database... feline	Posted - Oct 19 2006 : 11:28:08 AM I will ask. It will probably take a little while to work through the log files if they are of any size. Also please remember that time zones have an effect, so sometimes it takes us a little longer than we would like to reply.

sean	Posted - Oct 17 2006 : 9:50:41 PM Since you are seeing the corruption occur from the start, can you please do a symbol rebuild while logging is enabled and send in the logs ( http://www.wholetomato.com/support/faq.asp#log )?

I have no other IDEs running. Do you want me to zip up the CPP folder so you can see what is corrupt about it (it looks okay to me)?
danpetitt	Posted - Oct 17 2006 : 5:09:56 PM I dont have VAView turned on but I do have the Context and Definition view at the top and its empty when I select methods and variables that normally would display their context. List boxes options are all on except the "Get content from default intellisense". The problem i get is the suggestion list box which appears when you press "." or "->" (along with context view above being empty).
feline	Posted - Oct 17 2006 : 4:00:32 PM do you have: VA Options -> Text Editor -> listboxes -> get content from default intellisense turned on or off? there are actually 3 types of listbox that VA produces: * suggestion listboxes, these have a question mark icon * completion listboxes, these appear after CTRL-SPACE, and are the "normal" listboxes * autotext listboxes, they have an 'A' icon, and appear in response to autotext shortcuts do all 3 stop appearing? or only some of them? do you have VAView turned on? if not can you try turning it on? I am wondering if the HCB (Hovering Class Browser - the bottom section) still updates when this problem occurs.
danpetitt	Posted - Oct 17 2006 : 3:37:13 PM I will give the beta a go. There doesnt seem to be a trigger that i can see ... it will be working whilst i type and then suddenly stop working. But the error logs appear when I have cleared the cache and emptied everything and then reloaded my project, almost straight away the error log appears. I have the IDE open for days with the same project but i do launch and close other ide's and projects at the same time ... some i keep open for a while (hours/days) others are just quick. Memory usage doesnt seem massive. I will try the beta and report back.
feline	Posted - Oct 17 2006 : 3:24:31 PM first up can you try the latest version, 1539, and see if it helps? some fixes were made in 1538 that may help you. http://forum.wholetomato.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=5442 does there seem to be any form of trigger to this? how long do you use the IDE before you start to see problems? 10 minutes? 3 hours? 5 days? if it is longer than a day do you hibernate the machine? shut it down? leave it on? can you look to see the memory usage you are getting? we have one specific user reporting problems with VA and massive memory usage, and he is also getting error logs. I am wondering if there is any connection with your experience.
