Hi!
I am just testing VS2005 under Vista with the appropriate SP1 and SP for Vista.

No Problems up to know.

But I notice two things with VA Build 1543
1. Sometimes VS 2005 does not close. It's no longer visible on the screen, but still in the tasklist. After reinstallation of VA the problem is gone now.

2. The main problem:
Goto Definition Alt+G always causes a beep. I can't select this command from the menu. It just causes a beep again.

Are there any further public betas I can get.
If the betas are secret, please tell me (maybe per mail) how to join the beta testers!

Yes! I am sure that they are keen about that :D
They had a lot of trouble about that...

But I am using VS2005 in usermode without any problems and I like to stay with this...

From the second link:

When using Visual Studio 2005, we advise you to do the following:

* Run Visual Studio with elevated administrator permissions

That is not a requirement, but they do seem keen on the idea

It is not need to run with elevated privileges. The message box is confusing.
See this links:

Sorry that I missed this FAQ entry!

There is an FAQ covering this:

http://docs.wholetomato.com?W296

We are hoping to change VA so it stores its symbol database, autotext, etc, outside of the installation directory in the next few builds, which should help to fix this problem.

Having said that, after installing SP1 and Vista SP1 beta for VS2005 I got a message from the IDE telling me that the IDE its self should be run with Administrator privileges for it to work correctly, which was nothing to do with VA.

I just wrote a German article about this in my blog:
http://blog.m-ri.de/index.php/2007/01/27/visual-assist-unter-vista-mit-vs2005-und-sp1-sowie-sp1-fur-vista/

Also with an A+++ rating for this product.

Just found that both problems are related to the same thing.

If VS is started in Admin mode it terminates normal with VA-X.
If VS is started without elevated privilges Got Definition does not work and VS doesn't terminate normally.

What I want is to start VS without elevated privileges and it works.
Just add modification rights to the VA-X directory.

Now everything works perfect!
