With a 10k line file, I can type at about 1 char every two seconds, which is just horrible.

While this is going on, devenv is pegging one of my cores and spamming the VA database. Processor usage subsides a couple of seconds after I finish typing

Incidentally, while all this is happening, I've another processor core doing exactly nothing. I assume you are at least planning to consider having the option to kick the reparsing into a different thread?

It seems to have got worse, but that's subjective (and I've not edited this particular file for a while). I've been keeping up with the betas.

The file is currently 284467 bytes in 10670 lines

Profiling the response more carefully (using process monitor on 'fast'), when I press a key, there's about 2 seconds of activity, during which the intellisense popup appears, then a brief dip in activity for about .5s and then 3-6 seconds of activity before it becomes idle. The 3-6 seconds always happens after a pause, after I've finished typing.

The VS intellisense is disabled (renamed feacp.dll) and there's a stub ncb in the project directory and in %temp%

How large a file in bytes is it?

Unfortunately there are known performance problems in overly large files. We are working on this, and it should be getting slowly better.

Which version of VA were you using before? Is this a new problem?
