Hello support,

I'm working with VA 1559 and VS 2005.

At startup VA View is always visible allthough I have closed this window the previous session.
This is quite annoying. What can I do about this?
The only way to close it by pressing the closebuttun when it is flouting. The menuoption doesn't hide it.

Please send the files via the form:

http://www.wholetomato.com/support/contact.asp

including this thread ID or URL in the description, so we can match it up. I can then try the same IDE layout as you, and see if I can reproduce the problem.

So far I am not able to reproduce this problem.

Which OS are you using?
Can you post a screen shot showing your IDE window layout? That might be a factor.

Finding the SLN file with windows explorer and double clicking it.
If I do this in this way VA_view is always visible.

Docked if the last time I closed it it was docked.
Floating if the last time I closed it it was floating

*oops* my mistake, that button exists in VS2003, but not in VS2005.
Resetting all IDE options and settings may help, but that sounds a little drastic.

I would not expect the method of opening a solution to matter *puzzled*

When you say "open a solution from the explorer" what do you mean? Are you opening the IDE and then using File menu -> Open -> Project/Solution?
Or are you finding the SLN file with windows explorer and double clicking it?
Or are you doing something else?

It doesn't matter if it is floating or docked.
I'm not working on a multi-monitor system.

It happens when I open a solution from the explorer.
If I open a solution from the IDE's startup page then it "remembers" that the VA view was closed.
The resource view works as expected, "rembering if it was closed or not.

I couldn't find "IDE tools menu -> Options -> Environment -> General -> Reset Window Layout button" in the VS 2005 IDE.

Is VA View docked or free floating? I have just tried this here, and closing VA View hides it, and this fact is remembered when you restart the IDE.

I believe the IDE is in charge of remembering the window layout, including if VA View is open or closed, so you may need to use:

IDE tools menu -> Options -> Environment -> General -> Reset Window Layout button

to fix this. I have seen problems with VS2003 and VS2005 on a multi-monitor system where the window layout gets messed up and only a layout reset will fix it.

The menu button is only designed to show VA View in VS2005, since you can close it using the close button on VA View its self.
