Posted - Sep 27 2007 : 02:37:06 AM Hi again,
I am really quite enthusiastic about the new find references dialog! Especially the clone button is what I have been waiting for.
The 'Find in Results' button is nice as well, although I found a very small bug in it: when you press 'Ctrl-F' in the find references window, then the find dialog pops up. But if you type 'Ctrl-F' when it is still finding references, then nothing happens (which is rather normal). But if you then press 'Ctrl-F' again when searching has finished, then the dialog will not pop up neither. The work-around is to press 'Ctrl-F' in the editor window, and from then on 'Ctrl-F' will work again in the find references window.

Posted - Oct 03 2007 : 3:29:59 PM Easy when you know how I am seeing the same thing here:
case=9191
I have also put in a bug report for VA moving keyboard focus out of the results list when highlighting is enabled. I can see why that happens, but it isn't completely helpful:

My colleague did not have this problem, so we compared our preferences. It turns out that if the 'highlight references' is automatically enabled, then the focus switches back to the editor, if it is not enabled, then the focus does not switch back and you then reproduce the bug mentioned above.

Posted - Oct 02 2007 : 2:30:18 PM I am using the same window layout as you and VS2005 with VA 1609
With Find References Results pinned open if I do Find References or Find References in File then VA moves focus into the Find References Results window while the find is running, and then back to the editor window when the find has finished running.
I am seeing the same behaviour on two different machines, so this seems to be standard behaviour, at least for me.
If you trigger the Find References command via the VAssistX IDE menu do you see the same behaviour? |

Posted - Oct 01 2007 : 01:46:19 AM No, my focus stays in the find references window (which seems normal). |

Posted - Sep 28 2007 : 5:48:25 PM I now have a *large* test project, and have tried this.
For me, when the Find References scan finished focus jumped from the Find References Results window back to the editor. Are you seeing the same thing? If so this would explain why the second CTRL-F did not work as expected. |

Posted - Sep 28 2007 : 02:20:35 AM My find references window is pinned. I'll give a more precise method of reproducing it, since it is very easy to work around the bug:
- start a find references that will take long enough - while it is busy, give focus to the find references window and press ctrl-f (nothing happens: ok) - wait until the find references has finished, but keep the focus in the find references window - press ctrl-f again - nothing happens
As soon as you give focus to some other window, the ctrl-f works again.

Posted - Sep 27 2007 : 12:06:07 PM Which IDE are you using? Is the Find References Results window pinned open, or is it autohiding? Are you doing this in the main results window or one of the cloned windows?
So far I cannot reproduce the problem. With a pinned open window, so it stays put, CTRL-F keeps on working for me. |
