Version 10.4.1624.0 from 2007.12.07 will frequently hang/freeze Visual Studio. CPU runs hot and I need to terminate the VS process.
The problem seems to occur when auto-complete kicks in. I'm attempting to avoid the crash, but it usually gets me about dozen times a day. In most cases, VAX provides the crash recovery edits lost during the lock-up/freeze/hang.
I'm running VS 2003 SP1. |

Please try installing VA 1626, this should fix the problem:

I switched to the release candidate 10.4.1626 about a week ago, and had no more issues since then, if this is any help ... |

We believe this problem is fixed in the next build of VA, which is due in the next day or two. It is currently working its way through internal testing. |

I have the same problem, quite frequent freezes. The listbox for autocomplete pops up, then VS2003 freezes completely.
I also use VS2003, but will migrate to 2005 pretty soon, I will let you know if this changes anything.
My C++ projects all use QT, I just adapted stdafx.h to define signals and slots, but I do not yet know if this will make any difference.
I am addicted to VAX, so any help is appreciated ...  |
