VAX 1626, VS 2003 (probably also 2008... don't remember).

Quite often when I open a document and immediately select an identifier, Alt+G won't work. I have to deselect it and select it again, in order to get it working.

IntelliSense does work in these cases.

Do you have VA's context and definition fields turned on? If so what is showing in these when you place the caret into this symbol?

At a guess VA has not finished parsing the file. Until it has parsed it, it will not know what to do when you press alt-g.
