...is there a way to get VA to leave the regions collapsed in the Outlook view. If you add a function or make any refactor it all expands back again. It needs to have a memory of its state that is independent of the regions of the file itself. |

We are considering making VA Outline remember which nodes (regions) were open or closed when VA Outline refreshes its self:

So that any changes you make will be remembered. |

Well, the VA outline window allows you to collapse regions to make it manageable (if everything is expanded it is graphical chaos). So you close the regions in the view and open only the one you are interested in. But, if you use a modify or refactor feature they all are suddenly opened again, and you have and the view is chaotic again. We use standardized regions and you can even have your own sub regions. To have all of these expanded means you need a gear shift lever on the mouse wheel so you can navigate back to where you were. and then begin collapsing regions you don't want to see again.
Try it yourself. Open a file with a bunch of regions. Collapse all of them in the VA Outline, then use a modifying function like Copy, then Paste and all of your regions will be expanded again and a scrollbar appears because you have the expanded tree.

Could you give an example of what you are talking about?
VA Outline is designed to show an overview of the file. It does not currently remember which nodes you had opened and closed. Your post sounds as if you feel certain nodes should be closed by default. |
