Posted - Jul 07 2008 : 12:07:59 PM I use the column indicator set at 80. This works as expected if I do not have Word Wrap turned on. With word wrap on, column indicator sits at column 16. Resizing VS window does not affect this.

Posted - Jul 07 2008 : 8:00:50 PM Yes, I know of that one, but its a unbroken line that distracts me from the actual code.
Besides, I have a sense of brand loyalty regarding VAX features ;) |

Posted - Jul 07 2008 : 6:26:16 PM You may want to try an another solution as a workaround: Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 have a hidden feature to display column indicator. You can read more about this here: http://blogs.msdn.com/vcblog/archive/2007/08/03/testing-compiler-diagnostics-and-a-cool-ide-tip.aspx
Maybe you will like it. |

Posted - Jul 07 2008 : 1:36:53 PM Update: Right now tried again: Turned on word wrap, made it 90: It works. So made it 80, and it still works!
Looks like this is a heisen-bug! |

Posted - Jul 07 2008 : 1:34:50 PM Language used : C/C++ I saw the column indicator at 16 when I started VS. Restarting VS had no effect. So I tried resizing the window and found that word wrap was on (no horiz scroller). Turned word wrap off for C++ and column indicator immediately went to 80. Just for kicks, turned word wrap on again and we're back at 16. Made VAX column setting to 81, still remained at 16. Maybe I should try 90 to see if it goes to 18? - Weird mathematical error? |

Posted - Jul 07 2008 : 1:27:53 PM Interesting. If I turn on word wrap, everything will be fine, until I restart Visual Studio. After that my column indicator disappeared. I used the text editor settings for C++. What language do you use? Do you see this instantly, or after you restart Visual Studio? |
