After installing VAX 1715, the code doesn't show over Remote Desktop/TS when Aero Glass is enabled. The part of the window where the code should be doesn't seem to be repainting.
It does work when I log onto the machine directly, or over TS when I switch to Vista Basic or Windows Classic. I'm using Visual Studio 2008.
Here's a screenshot I took after dragging the window out from being small, to show the area that wasn't repainting:
I saw in the release notes that you made some changes to reduce flickering over TS... I'm guessing that this is probably related?

To control Remote Desktop display optimization manually, use this registry entry:
HKCU\\Software\\Whole Tomato\\Visual Assist X\\VANet9\\OptimizeRemoteDesktop = 01
Use VANet9 for Visual Studio 2008
Replace VANet9 with VANet8 for Visual Studio 2005, VANet for Visual Studio 2003, or VA6 for Visual C++ 6.
Default value is 01, which enables optimization. Set this value to 00 to disable. Optimization is disabled automatically for Vista-to-Vista sessions with Aero enabled.

I am going to ask internally and see if anyone else can reproduce this. I only have one physical Vista machine, all my other Vista machines are running under VMware, and they are not showing Glass as a result.
For now the work around is to turn off Glass / Aero over Remote Desktop. |

Connecting to Vista, you should be able to enable glass over remote desktop as long as you're using 32-bit color (on the Display tab of the connection properties). You might have to go into the display control panel on the remote computer and switch to Aero if it's not on by default. [Edit: I'm pretty sure you also have to connect *from* Vista to get glass.]
For some reason I thought the link I gave had instructions for Glass on Win Server 2008, but I guess it's just talking about Basic. Enabling glass over remote desktop on Server is a bit more involved, but since this repros on Vista, I wouldn't worry about it. |

How have you turned on Glass for Remote Desktop? The site you linked to is about enabling the Vista Basic look on Server 2008, but as I understand it Vista Basic does not give you Aero.
In the comments the general sense is that you do not get Glass over Remote Desktop. |

No, the problem only happens with Glass enabled. And yes, when I say TS I'm referring to Remote Desktop, sorry :)
I just installed Visual Studio 2008 on Vista (connecting from Vista), and I'm seeing the same problem. So it does not appear to be related to Win Server 2008 after all :) |

If you disable glass do you still see this problem?
TS - Terminal Services, I am wondering how similar this is to remote desktop, which is what I am testing here. Are you able to remote desktop to the server machine instead? Or are Terminal Services and Remote Desktop different names for the same thing? |

Whoops. Apparently VC++ Express doesn't support Add-ins. I probably should've noticed that there was no VAssistX menu when I tried it...
I will install the full version of visual studio 2008 and get back to you. |

My Vista machine doesn't have Visual Studio on it. I installed VC++ Express 2008 and the VAX 1715 trial, and couldn't repro the problem.
It seems most likely related to Win Server 2008. By default, glass is not available over TS with Server 2008. I had to follow the instructions here to enable glass:

Do you see this problem when connecting to Vista, or only when connecting to Win Server 2008?
I don't currently have a Win Server 2008 test system, and it will take a little while to set one up. |

It happens connecting from either Vista or Win Server 2008.
Connecting to Win Server 2008 running VS 2008.
My connection settings are the same as yours: 32 bit color, and all of the boxes under Experience are checked. |

Which OS are you connecting from?
I am connecting from winXP to Vista here, using remote desktop. Resizing VS2005 I am not seeing any repainting problems at all.
What remote desktop connection settings are you using? I have remote desktop connection set to 32bit colour, LAN speed with all check boxes on the Experience tab checked. |
