I have a certain file in which, when I open the IntelliSense list (Ctrl+Space) for the boost namespace (boost::), the list will open and Visual Studio will freeze.
This only happens in one file in my project but every time.

When I place the file in a new Win32 default Forms project the problem does not occur.

Re-creating the .ncb seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks

Based on the mini dump this does not look like a VA problem.

Can you please try closing the IDE and deleting the NCB file in the root directory of your solution. The IDE will simply rebuild this file, but a corrupt NCB file can cause all sorts of problems.

Does this make any difference?

Do you still see the problem if disable VA via the menu option:

VAssistX -> Enable/Disable Visual Assist X

Thank you for this, I have asked our developers to see if they have any ideas:

http://www.cppstudios.net/~oliver/VAX_Bug_Report_2009-03-25-1.zip

The file contains the Startup.log. Other logs were not created.
It contains the dump and the file which, in my project, reliably produces the issue.

Though since I started this thread the same issue also occurred with other files.

Can you please turn on VA logging and reproduce this problem. Also when the IDE hang's can you run a second instance of the IDE, attach it to the hung process and save out a mini dump file.

Hopefully the logging and the mini dump will give us some idea of the problem.

Is there any chance of getting a copy of this problem file to look at? The file would only be used to try and find and fix this problem. I know this is often not possible, but it is work asking.

Please see this FAQ for details of turning on VA's logging, and sending us the log files

I updated to version 10.5.1715.0 and the problem persists.
