I'm using VS2008, my app is C++ with MFC.

When I have the dialog editor open,
and open the Find Symbol dialog,
and right-click on a symbol, e.g. the name of a button,
and select "Find References"

then I get no results.

Same steps work if a C++ file is currently open

Yes.
It seems to happen, if no cpp file is opened.

After making this work in the C++ file if you go back to the dialog editor does this work correctly?

This is what I am seeing in my tests.
