VAX 1649, VS 2008 SP1.

In the OFIW dialog you can type a backslash to look for files in a specific folder:

test \\ stdafx.h

Now, consider this directory structure:
Test\\Foo\\stdafx.h
Test\\Bar\\stdafx.h
Test\\Test\\stdafx.h

If I type "test \\ test \\ stdafx.h" I expect only to see ONE of those, but VAX shows me all of them. This is very painful in our LARGE solution where we have some 50 projects.

I'm not sure if this is relevant information, but here we go. Our solution file is placed below the top-level directory:
ProductName\ProductName\\ProductName\\ProductName.sln + ProductName.vcproj
ProductName\\SomeDependency\\SomeDependency.vcproj
ProductName\\SomeDependency2\\SomeDependency2.vcproj

Try removing the spaces from the filter string, so it becomes "test\\test\\stdafx.h"

With spaces you have just given VA a set of strings to search for, and used the "test" string twice. This is quite different from saying you want the directory test inside the directory test.
