Is there a timeline for when VA will be available for VS2010, I remember reading somewhere that a beta would be available shortly after the release of VS2010 beta2...

Oh,
Thanks for the info.

Hi,
I should first thank you a lot for this great tool which makes developing even easier and makes it more fun.
I have got an issue with VA for VS2010 which I've downloaded from here : http://forum.wholetomato.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=9137

After I installed it, it told me that the license key is expired and is not valid anymore. I think that beta releases do not need licensing. Am I right ?
Is there anyway to make this great tool work ?

Best Wishes.

Was not checked. Checking it helps me. Thanks.

If you are running with administrative privileges you need to explicitly allow extensions to run:
Tools | Options | Environment | Extension Manager

Is "Load per user extensions when running as administrator" enabled? If so, is it checked?

After installation Visual Assist extension is disabled for me. And there is no way to enable it.

Here's some soup:

http://www.wholetomato.com/binaries/VA_X_Setup1804.vsix

We'll have a more formal post later today. But to summarize, this is a beta build.

Download and then run to install in vs2010 (if the file gets renamed to *.zip, change it back to *.vsix before double-clicking). No administrative privileges required to install.

Installing 1804 only affects VS2010. Previous builds installed in other versions of VS will be unaffected by this installation.

Some things now operate a little differently. For example, VA no longer does code underlining in C++. A couple of things are not working due to problems in VS itself (for example, brace highlighting does not use a bold font even though the property is checked in the VS Options dialog).

Also, VA items in the Fonts and Colors page of the VS Options dialog may not appear editable. We'll post a workaround (short of it, exit the IDE and delete the fonts and colors cache).

Oh! and did I mention this is beta software? That said, we are using it ourselves.

Absolutely looking forward to support for the new Beta 2! Please keep us posted on your progress!

VS2010 Beta 1 would pick up VA, but only under fairly specific conditions, there was one specific build of VA that encouraged this to happen. But VA was never actually active in VS2010 Beta 1, even though the menu did show up.

Thanks, I understand now. It seems than VS taked all settings from the previous versions (e.g. 2008) including VAX. After reinstalling VAX, it isn't found in VS2010.

Actually, with VS2010 Beta 1, I had Visual Assist X's toolbar. It was grayed out, though.

I don't remeber what I installed first back then : visual assist X (for VS2008), or visual studio 2010 beta 1

I already have Beta2 downloaded and installed! Now all I need is VA!
willdean Posted - Oct 19 2009 : 3:28:53 PM
*I* like to be the one who gets in here first to ask about VA support for a new VS release.

I am not happy that someone has already asked.

Pah!

We are looking at this.

First we need to work through the large download and slow install before looking for any breaking changes from the last build of the IDE Once all of this is done we will be posting a new beta of VA. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks, sooner with luck.
