Hello, I upgraded to the 1810 version of visual assist for VS Beta2 and have found a few problems..

After installing VA 1810 I tried using VS 2010 Beta 2, but it appeared to be in some sort of comatose state:

Things that worked:
-pop-up screen when starting visual studio
-red tomato and options were present & could change options(though it didn't always do anything)
-the highlighting of the line I was working on still worked

Things that did not work:
-syntax highlighting, mostly seemed to have reverted to defaults, and I could no longer change anything(had no effect, nothing changed when I appled it)
-the ALT-O shortcut to switch between header/CPP just made a DING noise and did nothing on files it used to work just fine on.
-VA suggestions not working
-right clicking on things to bring up refactor view.. shows that it is all grayed out

So I uninstalled VAX & then reinstalled it--

First boot of VS, it crashed.
Second boot, everything worked just fine & VA worked as expected.

Third boot, VS crashed again
Fourth boot, VS crashed again
Fifth boot, it started up, but VA is back into comatose state where nothing works correctly.

Again I uninstalled VA & reinstalled

Sixth boot, VS crashed
Seventh boot, it started but again VA is in a coma

Hope this helps

The "cannot set allocations" problem is case=39412, and is fixed in build 1822

If you delete the Visual Assist extension from your user local directory (userProfileDir\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\VisualStudio\\10.0\\Extensions), does Visual Studio recover?

Aight well I cannot run visual studio anymore-- every time I run it now it pops up a black screen and says "the application cannot start" :(

I turned on logging but I don't know where it puts the log file? Also the check mark in the VA IDE for "enable logging" is always off when I start up despite having changed the reg key.

Anyway I have noticed that this problem only seems to apply to some files, like VA isn't parsing them or something.. it seems kinda random.. the same file might work on a one boot and on the next it will be VA'less.

I have also gotten another issue, where upon booting up VS it says "cannot set allocations" and refuses to work(this only happened when I had two instances of VS2010 running, dunno if that was related).

Can you please go to:

VA Options -> System Info -> Copy Info

and paste the details (from the clipboard) into this thread. This will give us the basic information about your setup.

Now, please exit Visual Studio, and install VA if it is currently not installed, then please set this registry key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Whole Tomato\\Logging = 1

and start the IDE. If syntax coloring is not working you can exit the IDE again. If it is currently working, please start over (exit, set logging to 1, etc.)

Please submit the files via the form:

http://www.wholetomato.com/support/contact.asp

including the thread URL in the description, so we can match it up.

I hope the logs will give some clue to the developers.

Also, a minidump of the crash may be useful:
