Posted - Aug 31 2010 : 2:55:44 PM I am attempting to follow this guide:
http://docs.wholetomato.com?W328 ( How do I allow C/C++ with a different extension? )
But the key referred to in step:
quote: Exit the IDE and use regedit to clone the following entry to a like entry that ends in your extension:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\VisualStudio\\10.0\\Languages\\File Extensions\\.cpp
Does not exist. I have attempted to create it, but VS just ignores it.
I have attempted a few other similar guides as well, but to no avail.
Anybody have any ideas?
Cheers! |

Posted - Sep 01 2010 : 1:56:41 PM Thanks for the prod! As soon as you said '64bit' it reminded me about the 'Wow6432Node' which all the 32bit keys reside under on a 64bit machine (including mine).
The solution is to follow the steps above, except use the key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Wow6432Node\\Microsoft\\VisualStudio\\10.0\\Languages\\File Extensions\\.cpp' instead.
It works now!

Posted - Sep 01 2010 : 10:44:29 AM Which OS are you using, and is it a 32bit or 64bit OS?
How many of these keys did you have to create? How close to this was your registry? |
