The installer does not show up in the taskbar, which makes it very easy to "lose" it between all the other open windows. For example, if you switch to another full-screen program while the installer is initializing, you can only go back to the installer by minimizing that program. |

For now, you should be able to switch back to the installer with Alt-Tab.
Still, a little unhelpful, thank you for the clear description, I have put in a bug report for this:
