Posted - Feb 28 2006 : 4:46:55 PM I have a problem with the Open File in Workspace dialog. My use pattern for it is to hit the hotkey to bring it up, type enough of the filename I wan tto know that it will pop up to the top of the list, then immediately press enter. The problem is that the list isn't updated one last time when I hit enter, it lags a bit behind, so I get a file that was the top of the list based on less than the full string I've typed in. The feature I'd like is that the list update once more behind the scene when I hit enter to make sure that it takes into account everything I've typed. This way, I can use it to bounce around to any file in the workspace super fast without slowing down to watch for it to update before pressing enter.
Thanks, Chris |

Posted - Mar 01 2006 : 6:56:52 PM if you still find problems with the fixed build (hopefully the next build, but i cannot guarantee that) i will put in a bug report for this. the speed of filtering is mostly a problem in FSIW, but also shows up in OFIW once you have a few thousand files in the list. |

Posted - Mar 01 2006 : 6:42:52 PM Hmm... this might fix it, but if there are a large number of files left in the list when I hit enter, I still might not get the final update, right?
The reason I mention it is that I use it on a long list of files that all share the same prefix, and I hit enter after typing the first two characters after the prefix that uniquely identify this file, then hitting enter. I usually type those two characters before the update tick resorts.
I'll give the new build a try when it comes out either way... thanks.

Posted - Mar 01 2006 : 6:29:08 PM not yet, but we are expecting a new build soon. currently there is a slight delay in filtering, which is what you are seeing. this was added to handle very long lists. it is being changed so that the delay only kicks in once the list passes a certain thresh hold size, which should solve this problem for you. |

Posted - Mar 01 2006 : 12:05:44 AM Here's my build info string:
VA_X.dll file version 10.2.1440.0 built 2006.01.17
I didn't see a more recent version up on the download page. Is that in a beta some where? |

Posted - Feb 28 2006 : 11:54:42 PM We've fixed the behavior of OFIW in recent builds, and the next two builds have some more tweaks.
What build do you have? |
