An nice feature would be an RSS feed for new releases. Also if you had an RSS feed the application could check the RSS feed itself to see if there had been an update.

Sitting on this page: http://wholetomato.com/downloads/default.asp

Firefox is giving me the option to subscribe to an RSS feed, which points at:

http://www.wholetomato.com/downloads/rss.asp

This has just been added, as part of the new look website

It is something we are looking into, but currently we are focussed on getting the 16xx builds polished up and out on general release. Once this is done we hope to look into things like this a bit more.

For now you can always turn on:

VA Options -> Startup -> Automatically check for new version
VA Options -> Startup -> Also check for new beta version

not quite the same, but it does tell you when something is available

Thanks.

Who else on these forums would find this useful?

That's a fair point. I have put in a request to see what people think about this:

But RSS means it would appear in my Google Reader "New Releases" folder with all the other (about 8 so far) programs that have feeds associated with them.

You can subscribe to the anouncement's section of the forum: http://www.wholetomato.com/forum/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=18
to be emailed when a new announcement is made, which normally means a new build.

Also in 1557 turn on:

VA Options -> Startup -> Automatically check for new version
VA Options -> Startup -> Also check for new beta version
