Posted - Nov 15 2010 : 10:55:14 AM I'm not sure if it's within the VA's capabilities, but it would be great to add an option to pin the document tabs. When working with many source files, there are always a few that you return to a lot. However, when new files are opened they create new tabs, pushing the old tabs out so you have to look for these frequently used files in a project tree, opened windows list, etc. This especially is annoying in VS2010, in which there is an "X" close tab control on every tab, making them wider and allowing less of them to be opened simultaneously. Pinning just the tabs of the two-three most frequently accessed files down would solve this issue. Again, I know that VA works with code and less with the environment UI, but new Microsoft VS versions come out much less frequently than VA's, so why not? (It would also make VA users even more dependent on it, harder to go cold turkey :) |

Posted - Nov 16 2010 : 3:31:53 PM We are considering to do tab improvements at some point, but not in the near future:
case=18471 (I have added a comment with your idea)
However, there are programs out there that you can use to improve tabs behavior:
wndtabs for VC 5.0 and 6.0 (free) http://www.wndtabs.com/ vstabs for VS 2003 (homepage ceased) http://blogs.msdn.com/b/powertoys/archive/2004/06/12/154339.aspx tabs studio for VS 2005-2010 (not free) http://www.tabsstudio.com/ |
