Just joined the beta and tried to install. This is the procedure I used:
* Install version Va X 1205 -> Installer crashed. Checked forum for solution * Install version Va X 1206a -> Start VA.Net 7.1 and notice two VAX icon in the startup sequence, (and my menu has been reset grrr ) * Uninstall VA X -> Uninstaller crashes (even version 1206a) * Uninstall VA * Uninstall VA.Net * Uninstall VA6 -> Try to start VA.Net 7.1. Get: Cannot find one or more components. Please reinstall the application Visual Studio 6 still works. * Setup VS.Net 7.1 : Repair -> Works again, but still 2 VAX icons at startup.
I will now procede to reinstall whole visual studio to make sure everything is correct.

Two tomato icons with build 1206c is common and completely harmless. You need to uninstall 1205 before installing 1206c to avoid them.
We will eliminate the problem in the next build. We suggest not worrying about the tomatos for now.
Resetting menus is common for VSIP packages. We are working on a workaround.
We are working on the 1206 crash during uninstall. It's one of the reasons we don't recommend 1206 unless necessary, ie you can't install 1205.
As for VA.NET 7.1 complaining about one or more components, we suspect the warning will go away if you install and uninstall 1205, then install 1206c.
VC++ 6.0 users don't have this hassle since VSIP works only for VS.NET. |
