I typically open two instances of VS.NET 2003 and program for a while. Then I end up shutting down one of the instances. More often than not, when I close either of the instances the program crashes with the standard "report error, restart VS" dialog. After that, I can close the single running instance with no problems. I do most of my development in C# and ASP.NET/C#
If it starts to make sense, you're in a cult.

Strange. Many people develop in multiple instances without trouble.

Can you do some more detective work? A call stack?

Anything unusual about your environment? Other add-ins?

We assume the problem goes away if you uninstall VA X.
