VS2003.net/VS6 - when you type m and shift at the beginning of an existing word, the underscore is inserted but it is selected. This behaviour did not occur in previous versions.
To repro, place the cursor at the beginning of a word, type m and press shift (with the option enabled of course). |

This still happens also in VS6. |

Hello,
So this would enable me to type "m_Test" as "mTest" (with hitting the shift-key once)?
Now I have to type "m<shift><release shift><shift>T<release shift>est" (or "m<shift>_T<release shift>est" off course).
If this is the case, it would be great (and I wouldstart using this feature again). Thanks.
With kind regards, Patrick Luja

I hope not, or there would be no way to type mTest. The current behaviour is correct: m<shift>t</shift>est should produce mTest, m<shift></shift>test should produce m_test. |

Hello Stephan, support and all others,
If you always want to use mVariable instead of m_Variable, you could always turn off the option...
But I question myself; what is the use of having this option? Count the keypresses (and releases) with and without the option... With the current option I count 1 more then without the option (with the option I've mentioned it's 1 less). In addition I find it more easily to type m_Test in full, then having to press, release and press the shift-key.
I really do not want to imply that this option is useless; if it helps some people, it has it's use. In the mean while (if you don't mind) I keep this option turned off.
With kind regards, Patrick Luja

Patrick, your "problem" is that you are only using semi-Hungarian notation. If you call your variables things like m_nVariable, then you will save an awkward stretch by keeping the feature turned on.
Please, no futile discussion about the merits and demerits of Hungarian notation. I'm sure we can all recite both sides of the argument. I just wanted to explain why the feature is actually useful. |
