When you type along and type a opening bracket, VA will insert automatically a closing bracket. Good.
When you type along in front of existing text and type a opening bracket, VA will NOT insert the closing bracket. Good to. (I could start the discussion about where and how VA COULD insert a closing bracket in this case, but I will do this another time)
But when you insert text by selecting it from any list and it happens to be a function which gets inserted, then VA ALWAYS inserts opening and closing brackets; independently if there is a space after the insert location or anything else.
I would expect the same logic for inserting a selection and for inserting while typing. I often end up deleting the closing bracket and inserting it at the end of the next word/function/whatever.
