Just installed 1214, and now I can't type into the ms dev editor at all when VA X is enabled.. although the backspace and tab keys do work

This happened to me about two versions back, but not with the last version.

Obviously, something is whacked.

Do you have any other add-ins or packages installed? If so, try unloading and reinstalling VA X. Tell us if you find a conflict.

Does our "Enable/Disable" command work, either from the VAssistX menu or our toolbar? Ie, does toggling make the behavior come and go?

In what IDE do you have the problem?

I have boundschecker installed, but removing it makes no difference. I have no other add-ins (not even our own VSI).

Enable/Disable works, and toggling it does make the behaviour come and go (i.e. it works when VA X is turned off).

The IDE is VS.NET 2003

Maybe you have any accessibility tools running? Keylogger? Anything which messes with keyboard? Any hooks?

Last time you reported that resetting window layout fixed the problem. Did you try doing that again?

Any more clues?

Just a very faint clue. Try running the IDE under [adv:on] Memory Validator from Software Verify ( www.softwareverify.com ) which has a nice detection of GUI hooks (besides of its inherent usefulness as a memory usage validation tool) [adv:off].

There are some GUI hooking tools (& viruses) which have bugs that show up in very limited situations.
