I have situations when the caret is in front of a symbol (behind a space, and I give the command search by context back/forward. Than nothing happens. Or it selects the word left of the caret (in my case the word class).
I tryied to reproduce it but I can not determine the way it fails always.

I have also seen strange behaviour with this feature (see post February 13). Have you tried hovering over the symbol until the HCB updates & a tool-tip is displayed? The find command seems to work from me provided I always do that.
