As nice as the tooltips in the source window are, they are annoying when they come up when they should not.

They do this when

  • VS6 is not active and you move the mouse over it.

  • the source window is covered by another window (they appear behind that window)

  • the goto menu is open and you move the mouse out and back into the menu (they overlay the menu)

  • during debugging (see my post about double tooltips)

  • when the mouse is inside the source window and you navigate using the keyboard
