I have a dual monitor setup. When I startup with build 1216, I get a black area on the IDE. The region only vanishes when I move some docking window into it.
Am sending you an email with an attachment to show highlight the problem. BTW, how come you can't insert attachments with posts?

We see you have VS.NET.

Does the black area disappear if you "Reset Window Layout" in Tools|Environment|General?

You can post images if you host the image on an public server. Enclose the address with [ img ] and [ /img ] but without the spaces inside the square brackets.

Please post only narrow images.

I have VS.Net 2003. Going thru Tools-Options-Environment-Reset window Layout does not solve the problem.

I did notice however, that when I go to the About Visual Studio About Box, Visual Assist X appears twice in the list of installed products. When I click on on the first one, I get to see the tomato icon. However, when I click on the second one, I do not see the tomato icon.

It is odd you have two entries for Visual Assist X. If you have some time, try uninstalling all versions of VA using the Add/Remove Programs CP. Restart VS.NET and check the About box. See if any entries for VA X. Reinstall build 1216 if you see nothing. Try this if you do:
"c:\\program files\\microsoft\\visual studio.net 2003\\Common7\\IDE\\devenv.exe" /setup

Did what you said. Removing VAX from the control panel removed both entries from the VS2003 about box. I installed VAX build 1216 again and still have the black region appearing. Worse, now I cannot get the VA-View window to appear.

Do you have any other add-ins or packages installed? If so, remove or disable them to see if there is a conflict.

Do you mind trying with a single monitor? We just want to know what is the culprit. We use dual monitors ourselves and do not experience the problem.
