It would be nice if the "Open File in Workspace" dialog had more information in it.
For example, right now, I'd like to open the largest CPP file I have. There's no way to get that info through the IDE - I have to switch to Explorer, navigate to several folders, sort by size, filter by file type, etc.
Since you're already getting each file's date-modified, getting the size, date-accessed, attribs, etc., doing this wouldn't take many more disk I/O's or CPU cycles.

I must say, I've never wanted to open my largest cpp file, but I'm sure you've got a good reason.
Seriously, I'm inclined to think the size would be just clutter. |

Perhaps he wants to open it so that he can refactor it into smaller files???

Actually, I wanted to test a VAX bug someone reported that seemed to require a really large file. The problem is, I can't even predict what *I* might want someday, much less some other user. It's always "just clutter", until you need it... why would I *ever* need 'Date-Time Accessed'? Until one day I need it, and don't have it...

Exactly, thats why I favor a every-program-must-be-a-explorer-add-in approach. This would solve all problems. Sure, it would make everything incredible slow, unhandy and error prone, but hey, you'd have all together where you need it... |

I have complete faith that our boys could do this in an efficient, elegant, and safe manner.
But I admit that I am on the extreme end of the "kitchen-sink" approach: in programs I write, I try to include as much info and features as humanly possible, and give the user a way to exclude it if they want. It may be overkill for some programs; it's just part of being a perfectionist (in the bad sense), I suppose...

I really like the suggestion of having the options like windows explorer has of selecting which columns you want. (a sprelling checker on the forum wouldn't be a bad idea either) |

I use ieSpell from www.iespell.com . It's free and works well for me... um, why, did I misspell something?
