This is probably old hat to some, but it was news to me:

"When you are editing code in the Code Editor, the Microsoft Visual Studio IDE may quit unexpectedly. When the IDE quits, you do not receive a warning message. Typically, this problem occurs when you are editing code that is not syntactically correct. Under certain circumstances, the IDE enters a recursive state while trying to complete an incorrect statement."
Just thought it was interesting...
