Right-click in the MRU or HCB (but not the three one-line windows in the VA View). A menu pops up. Now left-click on the title bar of the whole VS window. You get the Restore-Minimize-etc. menu that you normally get if you click on the icon on the top-left of any app.

1221, VS.NET 2002.

What an extreme tester - how on earth did you come upon this one ;)

Its true for VS6 and VS.NET 2003, too.

Oh, quite by accident, I'm afraid. I just left-clicked well away from everything in an attempt to dismiss the menu.

If you're already on the mouse, it's quicker just to click somewhere else. Although I have also noticed that I seem to be more mouse-orientated than many developers.

On a side note, I have noticed that under XP it happens more often that the right-click becomes somehow "sticky", so when you after right-clicking somewhere, left-click somewhere else, the application sees a right-click. This is not local to VAX or the IDE but also happens in other (MFC?) applications. Pressing ALT or ESC helps.

Is it local to your mouse?

That might be. It has problems with the USB bus since updating the Microsoft drivers...
