Hello! I've tried installing the trial version of Visual Assist X quite a number of times now, but no matter what I do, I get an error each time I install. I get the same error when trying to run VS.NET with the trial installer erronously. Hence, Visual Assist X does not work.
Here is what it says, in two consecutive messageboxes: #1: "General Extraction Error es51" (This one is taken from memory as I forgot to jot down exactly what it said, but that's basicly it)
#2: "LoadLibrary(G:\\Visual Assist X\\VA_X.dll) failed. GetLastError returns 0x0000045a."
I'm clueless, any thoughts? I'd love to try this stuff out before considering a purchase. |

I'm sorry for that, I should have been a bit less hasty with posting. This first error was: "General extraction error Location ES1" |

at a wild guess, you may have an incomplete download of the installer. VAX 1223 installs fine for me, and its size is 4,294,105 bytes
it is probably worth re-downloading it to see if that helps. |

That was my first guess as well, but my size is the exact same.
Also, this happens with a previous build as well. I even tried removing all traces of VA X (files, registry etc.) and reinstalling with the same result. I have no other add-ins installed. |

Do you have a system debugger running? If so, try without it. |

I have the same problem with you. I had already uninstalled all the system debuggers, but the VA_X.dll just can't register itself. Maybe you can try the build 1218 or below. It works on my PC. |

It works now, but I don't rightly know what I did. I just tried reinstalling again today and it worked, I can't think of anything I've done to change the environment.
As a rather funny anecdote, the trial ended today, so I don't get to try it anyway, heh. I think there might be some machines in school with 7.0 installed though I think, so I will try on those.
Thanks for the help guys, I appreciate it! |
