This is another thread on spelling... It would be really great if: 1. You could chose the correct spelling 2. You could tell it to always ignore some words like "init" or other correct "code" words that are included in the comment |

1 - right click on the word with the red wiggly underline, and pick the correct word from the list 2 - why dont you select "add word"? |

I think the problem here is that the fact that a right-click menu is available when you hover over misspelled words is "non-discoverable": if you didn't *know* it was there, nothing in the way the program behaves would tell you.
Maybe the cursor should change when hovering over a misspelled word? That would be a visual cue to most people that a new "mode" has been entered; most developers would eventually think to try right-clicking, I believe.

I feel your pain; but it's still non-discoverable (what a wonderful would it would be if only users would RTFM). If changing the cursor won't work, what about, hmmm... a status bar message? A special tooltip ("Right-click for corrections"). An annoying beep (just kidding)!

if you are used to MS Word then it makes sense to right click on any word with a red wavey line underneath it, since this is what you do in MS Word.
perhaps i am feeling overly optimistic, it is a side effect of overdosing on XSL in 24 hours |

Ugh. If we're going to start taking our UI cues from Microsoft, then I don't want to play anymore...

true, perhaps a bad example. it isn't exactly obvious that you should right click. at least it is consistent though. |
