With the VA.NET I've been using, new lines in an autotext template were ignored when it pops up as a suggestion. In VAX 1225, they show up as "\\n" in the tooltip, making for:

if ($)\\n{\\n\\n}

Is that the way it's supposed to be? I definitely preferred the VA.NET way of just ignoring them.

On the other hand, the new templates include multiple definitions for the same "shortcut", and the only difference is the newlines.

\\n is by design for the reason Joe provides.
