Is it possible to have the normal VC 6.0 context menu show up when I right click on a file in the Hovering Class Browser? I do most of my source control operations through the FileView tab, but I prefer to use VA View, but I can't check in my files (among other things) when in that view. As a result, I have to go to FileView, navigate to the file, then do whatever source control operation I want to do on it. Then go back to VA View. After doing this a few times, I just gave up on the VA View, which is a bummer.
Thanks D |

I guess you can call it integration. But no more integration than the menu you would normally get when right clickin on a file(s) in the file view. It brings up options to Check out, Check in, Undo Check out, etc. I don't know if you can configure VAX to just popup the default menu and have VS handle it. |

Whoa, we're not on the same page. My fault - I was way too terse. Here's what I meant to say:
Are you using Microsoft Visual Source Safe? If so, can't you use the IDE's menus to do what you want (and a lot quicker that using the mouse)? I recall using "Alt-P-C-H" to look at History for example.
Or am I confused?

Yah. I'm talking about VSS integration. I guess I could use the IDE menu to do that. It's just not my workflow.
I usually use the mouse to select a bunch of files from the FileTree (I just noticed you can't select multiple items in the HCB list) and then just right-click to show the context menu, and done.
Also, I have little use of the items in the HCB menu. Seems like the context menu should be sensitive to what type of item you are right clicking on... files vs. methods.

Just to clarify... the HCB is the bottom part of the VA View. The HCB displays information for symbols when you hover over them. The HCB does not contain file names.
The MRU, just above the HCB, is the Most Recently Used list. It does contain file names as well as methods. The content depends on your settings in the Right+Click menu.
You do have interested points. Our content menu might be different in the MRU for files versus methods. Allowing selection of more than one item is reasonable. VSS integration is another possibility.
We will consider some changes. Expect nothing soon.
For now, use the FileView or other shortcuts and menu for VSS.

Thanks for clarifying. It took me a while to figure out what the HCB was!
Anyways, thanks for the reply. Hope to see those features at some point in the future.
Cheers, D |

One thing I just remembered... it would be cool if you could have key bindings to set focus to the Files in Workspace and Symbols in Workspace Combo's. Kind of like ctrl-D sets the focus to the find combo on the Edit toolbar. These would be a HUGE time saver.
Thanks. |
