When you type ->, a memebers list appears, which is ok. But, if you press *, autocomplete with currently selected (first) member happens, which isn't ok since you wanted to type ->* operator!

I presume the same happens with .* op.

As a guess, you have, "...accept with: Any character not valid in a symbol" checked. This is in the VA X Options, Text Editor, Completion page.

Yes. Wouldn't unchecking just substitute that problem with another one? :)

Perhaps, but the specific issue here, as I see it, is that since * is not a valid character in a symbol, it accepts the suggestion. If you uncheck that option, I think that it will simply type the * character, and the suggestion will go away.

The down side is that now you can only accept a suggestion with <tab> or <return> (if you have both of those selected). For me, these are the only two ways I want to have the suggestion accepted, so there is no problem.

My understanding is that "Any character not valid in a symbol" is the wrong option for most people, so I don't think you'll find it a problem, unless you've got used to accepting symbols with anything.
