Windows XP Pro SP2. Add/Remove Programs - VAX - Click here for support information. The popup just says "Use the following information to get technical support for Visual Assist X" but the information is missing. It should contain at least the publisher and version number.
If the version number can also be added to the name of the program in the Add/Remove Programs list, that would be even better, but I don't know how easy that is, or whether it has any other implications.

Hello all,
I hope Stephen's second idea won't create a whole list of Visual Assist builds in the Add/Remove Programs list. So Visual Assist should erase the appropriate entries of previous Visual Assists (couldn't there be a conflict here).
And honestly, I don't see a point for putting the build number there, because you would be able to look it up when clicking on "support information" (and of course in VA's options). But if you're happy with it, why not.
With kind regards, Patrick Luja |

I just find it easier to see the version number in the list, without having to click on the item and then click on the support link. I don't feel strongly about this though. It seems to be pretty mixed whether other programs do it or not. Of course, if it's done, old versions should be erased when installing new versions, as you say. |

Usually, you can tell the setup-script-generators to overwrite the existing entry in the Setup/Uninstall-Keys of the registry. At least Inno-Setup is able to... However, if you do it wrong, you will end up having several entries with different Version-Numbers in there, from which only one entry works (no matter which one you choose, the first selected will uninstall VAX, leaving the other version-entries in there). |
