Hit Alt-S - get a message box that looks like it was caused by code like this:

::MessageBox("", "va_x", MB_ICONWARNING)

Worse, no symbols dialog!

I should have asked, is anyone else seeing this?

probobly you mean schift-alt-s (default keybinding) for "find symbols in workspace", and yes it's broken.
the related toolbar button shows the same behavior (got my rating: 5).
